Raytheon event question, Career development?

Veteran

CHARLES KESSLER Fenton, MI

There is a job post for a Manager I-Program Management that I am interested in applying for. While I feel comfortable with the responsibilities for the position, what type of career development opportunities exist to learn Raytheon’s EVMS, IMS and six sigma programs?

I agree - everything I had to learn about EV, program management, six sigma, etc has been provided by Raytheon in the 20 years that I have been at the company. The level role that you are looking at likely requires some experience in those areas already, but as long as you have some familiarity the rest of the "Raytheon way we do it" will be filled after you start. There are lots of internal training opportunities, and career development is definitely emphasized.

Good morning, Charles, and thanks for participating today. Career development in general is a hallmark of the culture here. Employees create annual development plans in partnership with their managers, and that can certainly include getting training in the areas you mentioned. The company also has an on-line Learning Management System that enables staff to access a vast library of courses and topics.

Brian,
I am familiar with these process and use them currently. I am sure that every company has a different approach on how to apply these techniques. We use parts of different programs that work for us. Its great that Raytheon has established a way to keep everyone on the same page using the same processes, and that career development is so highly emphasized.
