Does anyone have any connections in the publishing industry or retail stores that feature greeting cards?

I am an author and new greeting card business owner and am trying to connect with someone that can help me get my books and motivational products to market, either through feature at small business boutiques or larger stores interested in wholesale.

Hi Theresa,

I second June's advice. There are so many unknowns for the retail landscape. You may want to consider Etsy (since they are craft-oriented).

Like you I am an author. I have self-published three books through Amazon. There have been modest sales, but I use them for marketing purposes and include them in my work.

An interesting concept I am considering is publishing a book as an online book. The numbers can be good depending on your purpose. The example that got me thinking about this is https://practicaltypography.com/.

For boutiques, I don't have any connections, but you want to consider vacation towns/destinations. Lake Geneva, WI is a nearby vacation town (I live in Chicagoland). There are many boutiques and other stores. When we go up there we almost always buy something.

Cracker Barrels might be a good since more people will probably be driving versus flying for a while.

Regards,
Chad

Hallmark Cards is located in Kansas City but I imagine they have distance working authors all over the world. I do not have any contacts there though. LinkedIn would be my first search for someone you know at least as a 2nd and then their website.

Hi Theresa,

Check into Amazon. They will take a percentage of your sale to market it. It will be much more profitable on selling your book in today’s tech Information Age where traffic is online. You can also set up a website to market your book and social media. I help entrepreneurs develop their online marketing and sell through e-commerce if you would like to discuss the process?
If so please connect with me on Linkedin
