Especially with the volatility of today’s market place. Do you consider it a stable field?

Energy companies are all competing to try and solve the dual energy challenge- finding ways to meet the world's rising demand for energy while trying to reduce carbon emissions. It's a really exciting space to work in as we are at the forefront of emerging technologies and innovations that could help solve the problem. In terms of job security, I think that depends on where each individual company sits in the chain (upstream, downstream, midstream, logistics, alternative energies etc.) and its liquidity to weather to storms. Good luck with your search and thank you for your service!

Hi Mike, and thanks for both your long valued service and interest in BP.

I agree with Sangya that it's dependent on where you sit. It's also dependent on your ability to change, adapt and mitigate risk (to self, company and community) which I'm sure your military experience has given you in buckets.

You might have heard we announced earlier this year we are reimagining energy (https://www.bp.com/en/global/corporate/who-we-are/reimagining-energy.html) which means we're going through global changes to the organization. For those looking for something static I'd say now is not the time to join an energy firm. However for those who like challenge, who want the opportunity to contribute to cutting edge energy solutions that contribute to a better world, while having a chance for personal growth...it's the time.

We are in a hiring freeze at the moment. However we are participating with Hiring our Hero’s, ACP and other organizations on virtual career fairs so you may wish to keep tabs on their upcoming events. And I understand we're also in the process of launching a new veteran careers page. This will have a list of open opportunities that closely translate to your experience. From our BP jobs page (https://www.bp.com/en/global/corporate/careers.html), you can also set up a search agent that can automatically alert you to jobs of interest.
