I am looking for a job as a mechanical engineer in huntsville alabama.

Veteran

Douglas Smith Huntsville, AL

I have been applying in the Huntsville area for about 4 months and am having a difficult time getting a response back. I have utilized Still Serving Veterans as well as Voc Rehab. I am not sure what I am doing wrong and could use some help networking. Thanks in advance.

You may want to be more open in your LinkedIn profile, you are a graduate of an engineer program with some experience, I assume. Focus on that, let them know you are working on a Master's with graduation date in 2021, but not upfront.
Shoot for the foot in the door as an engineer and now when they search for you all they see is student, without knowing you are and engineer capable of working. Are there any engineering professional associations in your area, join one, actually join as an engineer, not a student. If you find out later you could work your way into an internship, then look at a "student" membership. Key thing focus on the fact you are able to go to work now. If you are not able to work full time and do grad school, then keep everything status quo and join though as a student member of a professional association. Join groups on LI or Facebook professional. Need to get in front of people and comment on articles or write one, be active on social media in a positive way. Two ways to make news, make sure it is the proper one at this stage in live. Thanks for your service and good luck. God Bless Here are a couple of profiles and articles that might help with does and do not's.

Good examples of “to the point” profiles are Mark Broc, PMP, SSGB, SrumMaster, Domonick Steward, Information Technology Specialist | ISSO | Security+ and Jack Eisenhauer, Global Supply Chain. All have had long careers, but emphasized experiences and accomplishments that offer examples of the career they are searching for.
