If I am targeting Project Management and already am enrolled in a a PMP certification program, what should I focus on with my associates and bachelors degree? I originally planned to pursue engineering, but I am really interested in the PM career field and would like to know which degrees would be most beneficial. Additionally, if anyone has a school suggestion in the DFW area, I would appreciate it.

project management is a moderately replaceable skill, but an important role.
Getting a BS degree is minimum to standout, get it in the field you want your job.
if it is tech, get it in Computer science, design or electronics
PMP is a good idea. So is scrum master.
Do not wait for degree to start applying and using failure & success to improve
There are few stand alone PM's, they usually have experience in their respective fields and are PM's. It would be hard to find just a PM with no industry experience, e.g. tech, engineering, medical, manufacturing and so on. PMP cert should compliment you career interest, not the other way around.

I think project management is a critical career skill. Working with various technical and business professionals on diverse projects is not only personally satisfying but also career enhancing. However, I do not recommend majoring in project management per se. I think a major in engineering with some pm training will provide you with better career options and also a stronger foundation to advance in a wide range of industries .
