I am looking for my next career since I am currently working overseas with no end game that I can go home to or fall back on. My background is in food service for the last 16 years to include 8 years active duty Army. I have a passion for helping others and a great interest in finance to say the least. My goal is to get back into school sooner than later and use my VA benefits to finish out a degree in Accounting/Finance. I am searching for work life balance along with seeking out a career that I can truly love. With that being said I would love anyone's input on this matter or even someone in these professions to speak with about the job opportunities specifically in southwest Florida. Thank you all for your time and consideration
Do an Advanced People search on LinkedIn in the area you want to live for accountants and CPAs. You will find dozens. Focus on the CEOs, Directors, and Managers. Ask if they would help mentor you (don't lead by asking for a job just yet...that is crucial!).
I have been in a client facing advisory role for 13 years, so I can share some insight into this side of the business if that interests you? Please feel free to email me at Stephanie.petrosini@Ms.com.
I would be happy to speak with you about careers in finance and accounting. I have 40 years of experience, first in public accounting and then in private and public corporations.
Here is my contact information:
I would be happy to speak with you on accounting and finance careers. My background is 35 years in accounting and finance, mostly in the finance part at plants, divisions, business headquarters and corporate locations. It is important to do some specific thinking about ideal jobs as this will impact the plan you need to create for your goals. School is expensive but gives you a good foothold on getting an upward direction on your aspirations. My areas of expertise are in operations finance, cost accounting, mergers/acquisitions, product line profitability and financial analysis.
A melding of your personal strengths with the requirements of the different kinds of jobs and concentrations is also an important topic of discussion. Your preference on geographic location and work/life balance is also an important part of your plans to create a realistic expectation of what you might be able to accomplish. Please feel free to contact me via Linkedin, my profile is under Kevin O'Brien and I just sent you an invite to connect.
