I'm at a point professionally and personally that I think I could really benefit from a coach that focuses on goal setting/mindset/accountability/etc. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Thank you for your service. I actually used to work at ACP and transitioned to become a Life and Career Coach in 2016. I’d be happy to help you figure out if coaching is the right next step for you and talk about your options for finding a coach. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or need any support.
Hi Taryn -
I'm a coach who specializes in working with people who may be open to business ownership as a new career option. My company provides no-cost education, coaching, and access to hundreds of different opportunities. If that's an area of curiosity, I'd be happy to connect and help you in any way that I can. Thanks! Mike Harrington
Taryn, I am in the process of transitioning from the service and was able to use a life coach provided free of charge through the Committee Foundation. It was incredibly beneficial. I used my ACP mentor for industry specific and job search discussion, my coach helped me determine my priorities, strengths and to set goals for other things outside of just finding employment. Hope that helps. I strongly recommend the Committee Foundation.
I have been mentoring people for more than 25 years. If you would like a free consultation, I would be happy to better understand your situation and advise you properly. I have helped over 4,500 business professionals to implement a business planning strategy that focuses on direction, goal setting, one year objectives and 90 day action items to get you off to a fast start. Just ask! Most professionals would be honored to mentor you. I recommend finding someone who has already achieved success in your chosen field...even better if they live locally so you can get together in person. Not sure where I read this but I find it to be true: "ask someone for a job and you'll get advice...ask someone for advice and you'll get a job!" Good luck.
I have been a mentor with ACP for some time now, They have a very good program where they can match you with a mentor, who can help you through most situations from transition to goal setting. I know I have worked with several people and find it very rewarding. I would recommend reaching out to them and seeing if that is something you would like to pursue.
I am a International Certified Mentor and would be honored to have an initial conversation with you regarding what you are looking for. If you wish you can reach out to me at email@example.com and we can go from there.
I have an associate that could possibly or point you in the right direct. Plus he's retired vet that has been a good friend since high school.
Name is Shurman Riggins. I'll get you his email. Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org....
I'm a Certified Life Coach and I'd be happy to hop on the phone with you to talk about coaching. These are things I love to work on with my clients!

Taryn- I’ve served as a mentor to a serviceman that’s leaving the service this year. In addition, I have over 45 years experience in supervising and mentoring people. Please let me know if I can help.
I think you’re on the right track . Working with an ACP mentor should provide you with guidance going forward . I’d also recommend reading the responses to other veterans’ questions. I believe one of the responses on this forum mentioned that ATT had an veteran hiring program. Clearly there are other companies throughout the US that value the type of experience and mindset that military veterans have.
I’m certain your ACP mentor will provide you with organizations looking to hire veterans . Before doing so he or she will help you clarify your goals , highlight your strengths and opportunities for improvement and help you craft a marketable resume. One issue I suggest you consider is your willingness to relocate . Clearly, your opportunities will be enhanced with your ability to travel to other areas of the country .
Lastly, I suggest you also get on military.com’s email list . They have an excellent newsletter that periodically provides information on companies hiring veterans .
Thank you gentlemen! I did submit the ACP application, so I'm excited to keep moving through that process.
