Looking for Network Contacts in the Austin, TX Area

Veteran

John Grieger Cedar Park, TX

I retired as an O-4 from the Air Force 5 years ago and I am looking for network contacts that will eventually lead to finding meaningful employment. I was in aircraft maintenance for 12 years and the space and missile industry for my last 12. I have a masters degree and my PMP certification.

I am currently employed as a service program manager but I would like something related to operations or program management.

Good Morning and thank you for your service! Please forward your resume to me at Melinda.long@wellsfargo.com I would be happy to forward to our military recruiting team. They will review and help with translating the work you have done over to our environment and offer suggestions of possible employment titled roles here at Wells Fargo. I agree with the other comments LinkedIn is a valuable resource to search and find contacts in areas of employment you have the most interest in.

Thanks,

I agree that LinkedIn free version is a very good start to networking. Try to connect with these folks and ask if they know who is hiring in Austin- Amy Swank, Vice President at Texas Economic Development Council; Ashley Gossen, Director of Team Texas; and Carlton, Schwab President/CEO at Texas Economic Development Council. They all can direct you to someone in Austin for further inquiry.

There's nothing like Linked in to create or join a Network. Try the Free version which I have been using for a few years. You can join the various groups and also create your own. They offer some online tutorials or sign up for a tele-tutorial Q and A to quickly get a grasp of features. For starters, use the search function and type in Operations or Program Managers for the space and missile industries. You will come up with a wealth of names which are categorized into 1st, 2nd and 3rd connections. The first 2 you can contact for free but the 3rd level usually has contact restrictions and therefore you may have to pay. I have more than 6200 connections and collect at least 100 more each week.
