I wish to change my career path from government service to the private sector, but I am having difficulty relating the information systems I use to the ones used in the private sector.

Hi Terry, You say you are "...having difficulty relating the information systems I use to the ones used in the private sector." Please tell me what information systems you used while in your military service, and what about them you enjoyed and taught to others. Be as specific as possible.

I will try to provide some specific suggestions about how to related to future employers your experience and how you can be of value to them with your past experience.

Feel free to respond to my email.

Thank you for your question and your service, Terry!

If you have not already signed up for our Veteran Mentoring Program, having a Mentor in Corporate America in your desired field who can effectively translate your experience can be a great way to get your foot in the door in the private sector. Our program is completely free and based on your career interests, we would match you with a Mentor who's professional background would be most helpful for you. You would be assigned an ACP Point of Contact as well, who would provide customized and tailored support to you throughout the year.

If you're interested, please visit our application page and we hope to see you in the program soon! https://www.acp-usa.org/mentoring-program/veteran-application
