Also, think about what you already enjoy and/or are good at, and look through your network, job postings, word of mouth, and any other opportunities to explore open positions of interest. You won't find your dream job initially, but you will learn about the market and how your skills might relate.

Business is a very broad field. You may be limited based on where you live. If you must live in a certain state or town, that will help guide you in your search. In addition, there are so many online companies that can offer good opportunities. Read up on the future markets and then hone in from there. 5G for example is going to be fueling millions in setting up towers, the equipment to set this all up, the employees to do it. Also, while I am not thrilled w/ the industry, marijuana is a large market. CBD oil is being used as opposed to opiates for pain, lots of medical uses and recreational use. Some cities or counties are giving preference to veterans for licenses. Your military experience will serve you well in your future endeavors.

Figure out which part of the industry you are interested in and which roles. Then I highly recommend finding network groups to go and mingle with. It also never hurts to do some voluntary work at a non-profit to build an easy resume.

The key to any effective job search is a focused networking effort. As Martin said when contacting people in the industry you have chosen you are looking for a meeting with key people in the industry to get their views and knowledge of the field you have chosen, not to ask for a job.
You should also check out website “military .com” there are a variety of services they offer including
Listing job opportunities with companies that give preference to vets.

You'll hear from some REAL HR folks but a few basic thoughts for you.

Start with what you would do "for free"; meaning, think about what type of job would have you wake up in the morning impatient to get to work.

Once you have a short list of those, consider setting up "interviews" with CEO's in the areas of interest.

So you're NOT asking to interview for a job, but interview a leader in the field you want to know more about and work in. People love to talk about themselves, and with your service, few would turn you down!

Three things can happen; you get great input and insight into the space you care about, you can ask better questions in the next interview due to what you learned in the last interview (and you'll look smarter) and, you who knows, you may actually get offered a position!
