Seeking introductions to sales professionals in the Kansas City area

Veteran

Thomas Hoffer Topeka, KS

I have finished my MBA and am interested in finding out about a career in business-to-business sales. I would like to set up informational interviews with individuals in the sales industry who are preferably located in the Kansas City area. I would appreciate introductions to these professionals. My LinkedIn profile is: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomashoffer/ if that makes it convenient for you to connect me. Thank you.

Thomas...foremost, thnk you for your service. I formerly worked at Hallmark Cards in KC ... so reached out to a colleague from then -- Steve Cashman -- who is National Sales Director. I sent your ACP profile, so hopefully you'll hear from him. Best wishes for success!

Google Informational Interviewing and start reaching out to companies in your area with good honest questions for information on the career. 1) ask for help or assistance as a transitioning veteran 2) do not ask for work, ask for career advice, 3) keep time line down to about 15 minutes, and stick to it, if they run over great, 4) do not offer your resume if they ask that is great. This is a good way to network, learn how to communicate in the career language and get more confidence speaking to career like professionals.

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for posting the question, and for your service!

One of the resources on AdvisorNet is our Community page. This is a great place to refine your search and filter for advisors who have experience in the sales industry. You can also further narrow your search by including your zip code which will populate advisors who are local to you. Once you have identified a a few advisors, I encourage you to privately message them to begin scheduling informational interviews.

Additionally, I would also encourage you to look into our formal veterans mentoring program and you can submit an application at www.acp-usa.org. The program will be able to connect you with an individual in the sales industry for a year long one-on-one mentorship. This could provide you with additional insight on the field.

I hope this information is helpful.

Best,
ACP Staff
