Seeking a mentor for Veteran's spouse-Healthcare Finance

Veteran

Yuna Johnson Stamford, CT

Hello! My name is Yuna from Stamford, CT.

I am an U.S. Army Veteran's (O3, 9yr-service, Iraq) spouse. Due to frequent relocation and childcare for our son (4yrs) I have been out of the career loop for years. Thus I am here to seek a mentor who can give me advice regarding preparation.

ACP only supports current military spouses. But, they let me join in this community.

I earned my Master's degree in Public Health (specializing in Health policy and management) and studied and passed Actuarial exams (p/1,fm/2) during that time. Currently, I am taking a Certificate in Business Analytics.

My interest is Healthcare Finance (Health/life (re)insurance, Healthcare Market Research)

Please give me any idea, advice and thoughts.

Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Yuna

Hi Yuna,
Chet gave a great suggestion.
I would also suggest looking into medical device manufacturers for employment opportunities. These organizations are heavily dependent upon healthcare analytics as well as healthcare finance and economics. I've worked with a few med device companies and have seen this need.
I hope this helps.
Warm regards,
Jerry

Good morning, Yuni. I suggest that you contact a mentor through Score. There is a Score Chapter in Stamford. Go to www.score.org, click on "find a Mentor" enter your zip code and you can see all of the mentors in that office. since Score is nation wide, if you move again, you can keep the same mentor or switch to another mentor in the local market.

I am in El Paso, Texas, and could provide you with generic ideas, but your local Score office will have people who know your state and local markets and can help you with a closer, more tailored, plan. And, yes, I am a Score Mentor and I work with many of our fine men and women at Fort Bliss.
