Greetings Steffon, Thank you for your service.

While I don't have any information regarding IT Internships, most of the interns come into our Engineering group through Universities.

However, a good path into IT, is perhaps working in a call center, or as a night operator for a tech company. Night operators duties usually include, monitoring systems and keeping them running, or escalate when things go wrong. Or Backup Operator. Making sure data is backed up nightly and stored accordingly. Much of this is done in the cloud however many companies still back up to tape.

This type of path will help develop Systems Administration Skills that you can leverage in your next job opportunity.

And take classes as well if you are not already enrolled in school.
There are many states that offer free training online, and some of the online sites like Lynda, might allow free access to veterans.

Good luck to you.
