I been applying for positions in Healthcare Administration but at the Masters degrss level, I lack the experience required. Ive also applied for entry and lower positions and have too much education. I've even left my education off of resumes and applications and still can't get hired. I need advise as to how to proceed.
Rejeena I would sell your work in finance and management teams to the healthcare market. You will find as many MBA as MHA's in the healthcare field. 1) it is big business and needs streamlining, but 2) regulations and reimbursement change so often things out date quickly. I would focus you TAG line on your LinkedIn profile to go after healthcare managerial settings. Also start Informational Interviewing (Google it) this is asking the folks in the industry questions about the careers, as you are transitioning out of the military and need some assistance or help. Civilians love to help veterans, just do not ask for a job-that comes via a network or your more focused LinkedIn profile. I am attaching an article on LI profiles that may help you network on line, but get the people networking in your ACHE meetings etc. Thanks for your sacrifices and God Bless. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/linkedin-profile-your-chance-discovered-transitioning-jerry-welsh/
I hope you're doing well and having a great start to your weekend! First of all, thank you very much for your 20 years of service and for using ACP AdvisorNet.
I would highly encourage you to utilize our 'Community' feature to reach out to Advisors in the healthcare industry who can help you create a resume tailored to the position you want to work in. They can also provide perspective on how to approach interviews, and how to best translate your experience in the military world to the healthcare space.
Please feel free to cast a wide net and reach out to as many advisors as you'd like, as the more information you get the better your search will go!
I'm also happy to discuss the site with you in some more detail, so let me know if you'd like to connect.
Have a great weekend!
