I'd recommend joining SHRM national and then joining the local chapter. Here are the websites:

By going to the meetings, you can get someone local to help you out and make many contact. I did that on Long Island when I transitioned from NYPD to private sector and I think it was a smart decision. Feel free to message me and we can chat about it.
