Are there any mentors in the Nashville area?

Veteran

Brent Morrison Hendersonville, TN

I'm looking for a mentor to help me transition into a less laborious field. I'm not sure what. I'm open to new ideas. Entrepreneurship? Work from home?
Rodeo Clown?
I don't know quite what to do or where to start. Or how to start.

Hi Brent,

Making a new career change can be a daunting task. Luckily, we have hundreds of mentors from all sorts of industries that would love to help you explore career fields. I would invite you to apply to our Veteran Mentoring Program: https://www.acp-usa.org/ - within 24 hours of submitting your application you will be contacted by someone from ACP. We will work with you to understand what you would like to get into and find you a great mentor from one of our partner companies. As we are a national program, about 80% of our mentorships are long distance. For that reason, it may not always be possible to match you with a mentor who is local to you, but we can certainly find someone for you to work with who can provide you with insight on fields you may want to pursue.

Additionally, I would also suggest building your network. Find advisors on ACP Advisor Net through out Community Section or LinkedIn who have job titles that interest you. Once you have identified a few areas, reach out to make these connections and begin learning more about the industries that interest you by doing informational calls.

Lastly, I would encourage you to Review the Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook to learn more about various civilian careers. You can sort careers by salary, education requirements, number of new jobs or growth rate. An article from Forbes, The Surprising Key to Finding the Right Job for You, may also provide you with some helpful insight.

I hope this information was helpful.

Thank you for your service!

Best,
ACP Staff
