Good afternoon Chad,
Thank you for your service.
I totally agree with Sara's advice.
Another suggestion would be to stay in touch with the companies' veteran recruiter, let them know the position of interest. In my experience once you have made a contact with the veterans recruiter, they are very willing to assist you.
I hope this was helpful.
All the best to you.

Hi Chad,

Thank you for your question!

I think there's a two pronged way you can approach this. I would first recommend going to LinkedIn and in their advanced search engine, type in "veteran recruiter" for the job title, filter by location (Minnesota) and from there, you can sift through to see who you could connect with to begin networking. Many people are happy to help, so if you include a little blurb about what you're hoping to accomplish (maybe if they have any insights into the company culture as it relates to veteran-friendliness, do they have tips for the application process, how does the company support veterans after they're hired, what you're interested in career-wise, etc.), I'm sure you'll be able to start conversations with lots of these connections.

This is a little out of date, but should provide a good list to go off of for large companies in Minnesota: https://www.twincities.com/2017/02/06/minnesota-has-17-fortune-500-companies-unchanged-from-2015/

My other suggestion would be to visit websites like Recruit Military (https://recruitmilitary.com/) and Hire our Heroes (https://hireourheroes.org) to see if their are any veteran job fairs coming to your area in the near future. Some are virtual, so if there's none you can make it to in-person, that could be a great way to at least begin connecting with people (and seeing what companies are participating). They have tons of resources on networking and the job search process, and seek to directly connect veterans with companies looking to hire former service members.

I hope this is helpful and I wish you the best of luck!

All the best,

Sarah Bass
