Veterans abroad Question

Veteran

Harry Edelman Pittsburgh, PA

Does anyone know if American companies receive the same incentives for hiring veterans in their overseas departments?

Thanks for your help!

I think that language proficiency would far far outweigh any financial incentives to hire a veteran for an overseas post. I might be the most pro-veteran person in the world but I'm not going to hire a candidate for an overseas post who can't communicate with the people who live and work there.

Hi Harry,

Thank you for your service and your question! I'm afraid I do not have the background to answer your question fully, but I encourage you to research the question on the VA website, specifically under the "Veterans Opportunity to Work: For Employers" section, which I've linked below.

https://www.benefits.va.gov/VOW/for-employers.asp

You also may find it helpful to search our Community Tab for a veteran that currently works abroad for an American company. You can filter by location and industry there as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Best,
Megan, ACP Operations Associate

Hi Harry,
Thanks for your service!

Just my experience…. Not sure how much incentive (such as tax credit $) by hiring veterans? But there are certainly corporate culture that some companies are more pro veterans. In general, the primary criteria is the job skills and experience matches.

Attached is a link to J&J job posting as an example. As you notice, there are global jobs posted including Europe. Job skill and experience match is the key.
