Verlyn - Not every company has an official recruiter. Chances are, you want to find the hiring manager (your potential boss) and the HR manager. So, you'll have to go to the About Us page and find a listing of the management team and figure out which person will most likely be your boss.

To find the email address of this person, install a free app on your Google Chrome browser called Hunter.io. Then, while you are on the company website, open Hunter.io and search for that person's name. This will give you the most likely email address, which is about 90% accurate in my experience.

Also, Google the job title and company name. It may appear on job boards like LinkedIn or Indeed that lists the recruiter's info or the hiring manager's info.

Hope this helps.

Veryln,

Depending on the size of the company, you may be better off trying to find the veteran recruiter than the recruiter for the specific job. So if you're trying to land a job at (for instance) Capital One, search on LinkedIn for "Capital One Veteran Recruiter". They have a team whose sole job it is to source veteran talent. That person will likely respond do you, get your resume, and make sure you're on the top of the stack when the list of resumes gets sent to the hiring manager. I've used this to get interviews with Capital One, Merck, Pfizer, Amazon, Google, JP Morgan Chase...the list goes on.

Good luck!

Hello Verlyn,

In addition to the good advice from Jenny and Accursio, you may want to consider reaching out to third-party recruiters that are hired by companies to find candidates for open positions. They are always eager to help a candidate clarify their skills for a position because they get paid when their candidate gets hired.

Recruiters local to your area are best because they often have long-time, personal relationships with hiring managers. Just be careful to use a reputable one who will treat your resume and information confidentially, and will do the legwork in lining up your skills with job requirements (which is essentially what companies are paying them to do).

Here is a good article on how to find a recruiter:

Best of luck!

Hello Verlyn - awesome name and thanks for your 27 years of service. To piggyback Jenny’s response also network and get to know people in the same field and position you are gunning for. They may have openings that are not public and give you real world experience and advice.

Do not underestimate networking!

Best of luck!

HI Verlyn - thanks for your 27 years of service.
Contacting HR person is not easy and It depends on a job post. If you can find this job on linedIn you can reach our to recruiter. There is a big chance they will not answer. In my opinion if you are 60% qualified you can apply and list all your qualifications in your cover letter. You can explain why you are qualified for the job and how you are going to help the company grow. Let them figure out the rest.
