ACP AdvisorNet Staff
Thank you for this opportunity. I'm currently active duty in the Air Force and a Chief Master Sergeant (E-9) with 21 years in. My background is Personnel and I'm looking toward transitioning into the civilian HR realm this time next year, but I'm having trouble focusing on what aspect of HR I need to concentrate on. In my current job I am the Squadron Superintendent in charge of 330 personnel for the Force Support Squadron. I regularly recruit members and conduct interviews for positions as well as provide career progression reviews. I enjoy doing all of these so was wondering what sections of HR I should search for positions that would best suit me in these areas? Also, how soon would you suggest starting my job search? Thanks again!
Hi Major Cabrera,
To answer your question, I don't think there is just one position that is good for veterans at Deloitte. The positions you will excel in really depend on your skillset. I think with the technical background you would bring, there are a lot of opportunities in supply chain or technology integration that might be a great fit. Deloitte hires people of all backgrounds and educational focus areas, so there is a lot of opportunity! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Here to help today...transitioned from Navy to Consulting >15 years ago and actively help others make the same transition
Good morning! I'm Sasha Dunwody and I've been with Deloitte for 3 years. I'm a recruiter for Deloitte's Federal Advisory Practice, and my focus is primarily in the Intel Community and the Forensic and Investigations group.
I look forward to working with you all as part of Deloitte's Impact Day!
I'm a manager in our Federal Forensic practice that provides investigative support for law enforcement and other national security clients. While I have been in professional services for the past 11 years, I joined Deloitte over seven years ago to focus on supporting clients with their mission-facing problems. My passion is investigating transactions to help clients understand illicit financial networks, including those using emerging payment technologies. Prior to focusing on investigations, I supported engagements involving internal control assessments, compliance reviews, litigation support, and general financial analyses.
Overall, I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have!

Good morning!! I'm Doug and here as part of Deloitte's Impact Day.
As for me, I started as a fighter pilot in the Air Force, got my MBA and then went into M&A investment banking for seven years. After a short stint with Boeing, I joined Deloitte about a year ago as a management consultant focused in the industrial products sector. I still serve part time in the Air Force Reserve and I've been a mentor with ACP for over a year.
Happy to be here and looking forward to answer questions!!!

Hello everyone! Thank you Deloitte staff for sharing your time with us. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from you all as I begin to make my transition. At this time, I'm very much interested in the consulting field to leverage my intelligence/analytical/research background in the Marines. I hope to come away today a little smarter and with more resources to pull from as I navigate my transition into the Reserves in the Bay Area, CA.
I saw a mention of the Capitals a few posts up, what a game! Congrats to all my fellow fans, it's been a long time coming.
Aloha from Hawaii! Thanks for all the information from all of the Deloitte team. The question I have is directed towards Mr. Matthew Parker. I am currently on AD and preparing to retire shortly. My last assignment has been with one of the Army's Cyber Centers as the operations officer there. Your job of providing process improvement solutions sparked alot of interest. This is one area we struggled with. I currently have my LSS BB and working on my PMP and interested what a normal work week looks like for you.
My name is Steven Cabrera and I'm a Squadron Commander in the Air Force in the Aircraft Maintenance Career field working on several weapon systems to include F-16, F-22, B-52, C-5, MQ-1 and MQ-9. I also have experience in consulting, and program management among many other things. I'm looking to transition into consulting but don't really know how to start. I know Deloitte has a reputation as a top place for veterans. What would you say are the positions that suit veterans the most?
Good morning -
Thank you, Deloitte personnel, for taking your time to participate in ACP's virtual event. For those of you who are Capitals fans, congratulations on that Stanley Cup! About time!
ACP was a resource that helped me out when I was transitioning off active duty in 2010.
I served in the Army between 2004 and 2010 on active duty.
The timing of this event is great as I have specifically been exploring if anything would fit my skillsets in the Chicago office. I'm going to have to make an industry change to make that happen. Hoping to learn about how to get into Deloitte from outside consulting and making career changes into consulting disciplines, and your stories are great places to begin.
Thanks for your time!
I'm excited to be a part of Deloitte's Impact Day event with AdvisorNet today.
