Has any former Equity analyst or Hedge fund manager trading their own accounts?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently studying for my CFA level 1 and I love to analyze companies and pick stocks. I've spoken with numerous finance guys and have been told I'm either too old or don't have the experience. So I decided to learn on my own. I'm curious to know if anyone on this forum actually trade their own accounts. Would love to hear the experience! One thing I am is persistent. I will not let anyone tell me I can't do something unless I'm not physically capable.

Hi Wen,

First off, thank you for your service!

Next, I would highly recommend utilizing our Community Feature and reaching out directly to Advisors who have experience in Finance. Speaking to Advisors who have direct experience in trading their own accounts, or who hold their CFA, will be invaluable, as they can provide an informed perspective on the pitfalls you may encounter.

I hope this helps and please feel free to reach out directly if you have any additional questions, I’d be happy to speak with you. Good luck with your studies!

Best,

-Bernard.
