I am on draft 8 of my resume and yet, I still feel like it reads like an evaluation report. If anyone is willing to look over my resume and assist me translate my military experience into a competitive resume to help me break into finance I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
Looks like you got plenty of responses and hopefully got the answers you needed. Feel free to ping nevertheless and kudos to all the advisors that chimed!
First and foremost, do NOT pay someone to assist you with this, or even worse to write it for you.
Every resume is a combination of personal opinion, understanding of what you accomplished, understanding of the position you are applying for...and is inherently subjective.
The best advice that I received, and which I didn't understand until recently, is that your resume needs to be tailored to the position you are applying for. I've come to learn that means your resume is not a recitation of all you have accomplished in the military. It's not your ORB, 201 file, or DD 214, but a selection of accomplishments that speak to the required competencies on the job description. A 1-page resume is actually sufficient, and needs to be a conversation starter that gets you in the door and prompts the hiring manager to want to know more about you. Now go network so you can circumvent the ATS...
