Where can I find a list of veteran friendly/ supportive businesses or companies. Preferably in the New York City Area?
I would like to find a list of companies that have veterans programs or other ties to the US military.

I would echo Robert's military friendly company suggestion. This organization some pretty stiff requirements to meet and according to a SHRM survey only 20% of civilian companies have a veteran hiring program. The chance of those top 100 doing business in the NY area is probably pretty good.
I would also recommend you start networking in the field you are interested in i.e. continuing in the training field from your military experience. P.S. you might find this helpful for your LI profile. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/when-more-right-jerry-welsh/

Good morning James,

I used https://www.veteranjobsmission.com/companies to find companies hiring veterans and as Robert said, there are many companies with multiple locations. Especially, NYC has HQs of big companies. Please take a look at this website and if you need more help do not hesitate to contact.

Good Luck!

Hi James,

Thank you for your service and for posing this question. It is difficult to pinpoint military friendly employers by specific geographic regions since many companies, particularly those larger in size, have a national/global presence.

That said when it comes to initiatives and programs geared toward military service members and veterans, in evaluating and ranking companies as well as schools for that matter, there are two, that I like to refer to as the “J.D. Power & Associates for the military community,” which you may find helpful:

1) Military Times: https://bestforvets.militarytimes.com/best-employers-for-veterans/2017/

2) GI JOBS: http://militaryfriendly.com/employers/

I think both tools provide a comprehensive overview. GI JOBS results are audited by EY.

Feel free to message or let me know any questions or feedback.

Regards,
Robert
