Good morning, Richard!

First the bad news, our internships are largely already booked. That's unfortunate, since your skills are what we're looking for.

So, let's get past that. Nuclear Power Plants and Utilities have an urgent need for people with your skills. The pay is good, the benefits are good, and there is job security (people need water, gas and electricity).

So, here is a list of companies to look at for internships:
Exelon (already booked, but you never know)
Entergy
NextEra
Duke
Progress
Southern
Arizona Public Service
Florida Power and Light

Pretty much every utility. Nuclear is very heavily regulated, and has a lot of people working on this right now to meet NRC requirements. You may have to travel / relocate, but I'm confident you might find something,

For now, send me your resume, and I'll forward it to our HR recruiters to see if someone has an opening (if an intern dropped out).

Good luck!

Richard,

Thank you for your service.

I would suggest reaching out to the USG support contractor community as they are veteran friendly, geographically dispersed and have a large IT footprint. Also, they could provide opportunities in both the USG and commercial arenas. You may also want to consider the USG contactor community as they are similarly positioned but not necessarily as extensive on the commercial side, depending on who you're talking about. As example, Lockheed Martin vs. Boeing.

Here are a few targets:
Booze Allen Hamilton

CACI

Technomics

Tecolote Research
https://www.tecolote.com/content/careers/careers.aspx

Leidos
https://www.leidos.com/careers

And a pretty solid list of both communities is available from Washington Technology

Please let me know if I can assist further.

Hi Richard,

I can check with my contacts in the Atlanta area if you are interested in checking out internship opportunities in the IT sector.

Cheers,

Richard,

Thank you for your service.

I'd look into some of the professional networking groups in your area. Traditionally people who are in staffing/HR/marketing are vested in producing or attending those kinds of events, which will allow you to hear directly from decision-makers on what kind of opportunities may be going on in their network.

Recruiters (despite not always having the best reputation with all organizations) can often do a great job of making intros and queueing up opportunities you wouldn't otherwise find.

Hope that's helpful.

If you'd like to have a conversation sometime, please feel free to reach out.

Thanks!
