Web Development: Boot Camp vs Self Taught vs Degree

Veteran

Janelle Hughley Riverdale, GA

Hello,

I am two classes short of earning my Associates in Information Technology and am looking to work in Web development. I am not sure if I should consider a boot camp, a BS in Web Development or using free resource to help me learn the materials along the way. I was looking for advice/opinions from those who are either in or looking to enter the Web Development field.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your responses. I plan to start my own business after completing my associates. I don't believe I have the skills to be confident in Web Development from my associates program and trying to figure out my next steps.

Hi Janelle

All of the above! An Associates degree should be plenty get you into the door; albeit most likely at the ground floor. However, learning from experience and utilizing free resources should help direct you toward the best fit for further education. A company may even help foot the bill.

Thank you for your selfless service to our county. Best of luck.

A degree is good if you are job seeking and want to work for a higher salary. A boot camp is great if you are planning to start your own business and have potential clients. Experience and track record of working in the industry trumps both.
