Hi Michael,

Thank you for your service. I recommend creating a federal resume if you haven't done so already and registering with USAJOBS.

Upon conducting a quick search for "carpentry' and Department of Veteran Affairs, there are a few openings, albeit none currently in the Chicago area. (https://www.usajobs.gov/Search/?jt=Carpenter&p=1&s=location). That said the list is dynamic in the sense it does change daily so definitely something to keep on your radar and check periodically in case a fitting carpentry job where to present itself in your geographic area of preference.
