I highly recommend it. I spent $175 and it was money well spent. Watch out for the shams, look for reviews. The professional should offer you at LEAST 3 review sessions. If not, pass them by.

With resume, there are plenty of assistance for writing a professional resume, if attending a University the career counselor, and with your local job bank, for example, Zip Recruiter, Monster Jobs. Have found out about professional resume and a resume written by a software, is the amount of money one will spend on a Bio of experience. In browsing Bio writers, and looking into them, for example, an executive position from an private HR department they will ask about 2000.00 dollars to write your Experience, and the Bio will not change from the resume the career advisor written for you, the only exception that the more money one pay is the resume the HR department would recommend for that high paying position. There is a company called LANWANprofessionals.com, it is a tech school that will provide grants for training and after 2 to 4 months they will provide a job paying on the skill level you graduate from 60.000 to 180.000. The reason not signing up that I am in school already and to continue in receiving my loan have to stay in the school now in.

Dear Guillermo,

If you are interested in Federal positions, I have experienced great success with The Resume Place (www.resume-place.com).

Unlike their civilian counterparts, Federal résumés can often be 7-10 pages in length when including examples of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). The Resume Place offers free "Federal Resume Samples" and "Accomplishment Samples" (KSAs), as well as Free Builders to organize and showcase your experience using the Context-Challenge-Action-Results (CCAR) model. The samples and builders are listed under the Resources tab on their website (registration also is free.)

Should you decide to have your résumé and KSAs professionally written, The Resume Place can write a generic version of your resume, although their specialty is targeting specific job announcements from www.usajobs.gov.

Good luck with your retirement/transition, and thank you for your Service.

Sincerely,
Bob Jurasek

I have helped over 100 people in the past 3 years obtain new positions by helping them create a Top 1% Resume. The "secret" is to show your value to the company, and specifically to the hiring manager. I am willing to help you for free, no strings.
I am a retired USAFR officer. I know how to take your operational military experience and translate those accomplishments into commercial value statements.

Guillermo,
Thank you for your years of service.
As you can gather from the above responses, it can be helpful, however, because it needs to be flexible you don't just send out a resume for every position you are applying for; you tailor your resume for the jobs/interviews you want.
Writing the resume is your preparation for the interview, how do you meet and exceed what the employer is looking for?
Given your recent posts, I suggest asking some of the people you do informational interviews to take a look at your resume and get some feedback.
Similarly, take a look at the network here and contact people in the field you are seeking and ask for feedback on your resume.
As Barron mentioned, you need to be able to discuss everything on your resume and how it relates to the position and or organization you are now apply to.
Best,

I had my resume done professionally by one of my old high school buddies who has made a living doing resumes for people. He had me send in my old resume and interviewed me over the phone to ask questions about my experience and skills, and for $250 (the friends and family rate), he made me a two-page resume that has gotten me an interview every time. These pros know how to include the correct keywords so that your resume will come up when people are searching online for someone with your qualifications. Worth the investment in your future!

Hi Guillermo,

I'm not a professional resume writer, but I've been a recruiter for 23 years and have seen countless examples of great resumes and poorly written resumes. I'm happy to help you without any fees involved. You can reach me directly at kathryn.haynes@aon.com.

I was fortunate enough to have engaged Diane Lewis as a consultant to help structure my first paragraph. I did this when I was unemployed due to the DOT COM Boom/Bust in 2002, and was living off of savings. Best $7,000 I ever spent. I use that verbiage to this day, and it rarely fails to generate an interview.

She wrote two books in the 1980s about how to get the right job. The principle she espouses is, you get five seconds of reader attention span to buy the next three seconds. If you cannot make a compelling argument in that timeframe, then you likely have lost the battle for the reader's attention.

Here is the paragraph she wrote for me :

"High Technology Pioneer with proven leadership. Partners with C-level business executives to implement technical solutions that drive profitability, market share, and cost reduction. Achieves results by applying business acumen, project management skills, and systems knowledge to simplify complex issues and anticipate potential problems. Promotes diversity and inclusion to realize team cohesion. Eagle-eye for Return-On-Investment. Leading peers by coaching, mentoring and stimulating creative thought for dynamic growth in multiple directions with broad expertise. Specializing in electronic payment systems based on Service Oriented Architecture and Enterprise Service Bus. "

Works like a charm, every time.

Foremost, thank you for your service. And my answer is a qualified "yes," as the guidance provided me was through an outplacement service. The input was a combination of professional counsel whom had years of experience -- but then tested with other 'average consumers' like myself for 1) clarity, 2) format, 3) word choices, and 4) overall impact. What I would further offer, however, is that the true test of its effectiveness is asking yourself: "Can I own this?" ... as the most scintillating CV or radiant resume will fall flat if you can't defend it in front of a prospective employer. And when it is 'complete,' remember that it should also allow for adaptability, e.g., opening description or strategic intent should always reflect the role you're seeking. Self-evident, perhaps ... but the best documents are dynamic. Best wishes as you progress!
