So with thinking that I would like a December 1st start date for a new job after transitioning from the military after 22 years. I am about 4 and a half months away from that and I feel that even though some say it is to soon it may be just in the right ball park to start looking for a place of employment. Operations Supervisor/Manager seem to fit the best.
Any free assessment tools out there that after I am done I will post results. Maybe someone can guide me in a new career.

I did not see you on LinkedIn. 90+% of all recruiters use social media with LinkedIn being the top site. I am attaching an article that should help you keep it to the point and have then ask for your resume, which you should target for the position they are interested in. The whole civilian world along with GS and states all run on keywords. 1 very good page with a lot of value, beats 3 pages of your position descriptions. Good morning, Mike,

It sounds like you are on the right track. You know what you want to do, and about when you want to do it.

At this point, 4 months is not too soon. Start looking for companies in the area you want to live, and check for jobs that are in your area of interest. Then start applying.

I'm assuming that you have your resume all tunes up, and targeted towards the career that you are interested in. If it isn't, take some time to do that. I target my resume towards the employer, since it will help resonate with them better.

Make sure you are frank with them when it comes to your start date. The military may allow you to make an early exit with your years of service if you find a position, so take the time to figure out what your options are, so you can maintain flexibility. That will help the employer, and give them some idea of how they can expect from you as an employee.
