Looking to get a well paid job utilizing skiils learned in the military- Oil/ gas, Electronics Contractor,

Veteran

Gerardo Ovalle Houston, TX

Hello,
I am looking to see if any one can help me with some leads in the Oil / Gas industry, or some other niche industry that pays well, around $65K /year.

I have extensive experience as an electronics technician, Aviation maintenance, and ground radio communication tech, and computer and networking tech.
I think that all these skills would fit well in the oil/gas industry, but I can find a company that would hire me, because I don't have experience i would assume, but I do have seen that Halliburton, and others pride themselves in hiring veterans, so is there anyone who can help me,
Also if you know of another industry that my skill set would fit and pays well also, please tell me.
I live in Houston Texas, the energy city, so if any one knows a company here that is hiring veterans, and provides the training, please let me know.

I also have a resume if any one wants to look at it and advise me,

Thank you so much

We are hiring and give preference and premium pay to honorably discharged veterans. We are in Houston. Contact Alexis Rose at JSW Steel (USA).

Gerardo - Consider the contract assembly electronics industry. These are the behind the scenes designers and manufacturers of the world's electronic products.

There is a highly respected multi-national company with its HQ south of you in Angeton.

They have a number of urgent openings which I suspect would be a good match with your background. Also if you are multi-lingual, esp. Spanish that would give you a leg-up as a lot of the electronics business has moved into Guadalajara and there's a big need for liaison people between the start-up of manufacture in TX into high volume in MX.

The company is Benchmark Electronics and here's their TX job link.

The key is skills. You need a skillset that is DEMANDED by the market.

While the skills you specify in your question are admirable, they are not in demand.

When oil price goes down, hiring stops in the oil&gas industry. Right now oil prices are in a bear market.
