I keep reading how the agricultural community in this nation is getting smaller and how the USDA is encouraging veteran to get involved in ag. The cost of buying agricultural properties is prohibitive, and barring many beginning farmers from getting started. Suggestions on finding properties to lease and finding the financing to get started?

Programs, which usually seemed varied State to State, for veterans to get involved in farming or ranching, are tough to find. Suggestions, especially for Montana.

The community college in Walla Walla, WA has a strong relationship with the USDA and the local farming community. My point is, maybe reaching out to a local school with an ag program to find individuals to connect with may lead you to the answers you need for your area.
