Good morning Charles,

Sports field maintenance is competitive. You can start at High Schools and Colleges - they either job it out to a firm, or have people in house (usually building maintenance) who do that sort of work. I would suggest contacting High Schools and Colleges or searching the job engines (e.g., Monster, Indeed, etc) to look for "Building Maintenance". The higher you get (college is more likely to have dedicated positions, high school is more likely to be that, with a lot of other things) the better the chance you'll be able to focus on your desires.

I don't have anyone down there I know in landscaping, but it's the same drill for them. You might be well-prepared to start your own firm. What do you really want to do? Are you more interested in managing, or do you enjoy working with the earth, setting up the right balance for things to grow properly?

Best wishes - if you have any other questions, send me a note on ACP and I'll get back to you.

Hi Charles!
I have a contact for you with the UVa V3 program, Virginia Values Veterans- which does focus on re-training and placing veterans post military career. I will send you the info via private message.

Hi Charles-
Thanks for your service!
I am originally from VA, and have family in the C'ville area.
In checking with them, they suggested you look into job opportunities at UVa. In addition, there is a company based in Manassas called Premier Sports Fields, LLC. They do a lot of work in the valley and around C'ville, so you might want to look them up.
I am also going to send a note out to other contacts in C'ville to get further suggestions for you, and I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again, and I'll be in touch if I get additional suggestions.
Deb
