Deloitte Impact Day: Human Capital Management & Resume

Veteran

Kevin Kane Brooklyn, NY

Good morning everyone,

Thank you all very much for volunteering your time today to answer questions. The information and advice from this community is always insightful, helpful and most of all very appreciated.

A little about myself, I was an Army Transportation Officer and hold a B.A. in History from the University of Richmond. I am currently based in New York in a project management role, but want to pursue a career in Human Resources. Specifically, I am interested in functions such as leadership & organizational development, employee engagement, learning & development and change management.

From my research and conversations with those in the industry, this is a growing service area as HR evolves from a compliance focused operation to being a valuable resource for improving a company's strategic performance. I would value any information on the growth of this sector, how it is changing and what the future looks like. I'm also interested in hearing about your experiences with the types of roles mentioned above, both from a consulting perspective and as a permanent position within a company.

On a more detailed level, I am interested in learning more about Deloitte's internal structure for these types of services. Is this service line continuing to expand?

I am familiar with some specialties within the Human Capital practice such as HR Transformation implementing the Oracle HCM platform and OT&T. I am certainly interested in these services, but also know there is more to the Hunman Capital practice. Does anyone have experience with offerings like Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Leadership powered by Kasien or other similar services? These are the types of areas I would really enjoy getting involved with.

Also, is there any additional advice or things to be aware of for someone trying to move into this industry?

Lastly, I would be very appreciative if anyone is able to provide feedback on my resume and how well it is tailored to this type role.

Thank you all again for your time and please let me know if I can provide additional information to help clarify anything.

Best regards,
Kevin Kane

Hi Kevin - I'm not specifically in our Human Capital practice but have worked with them on a number of projects. I'm hoping we have a volunteer on today from HC. I know that we have a wide variety of activities supported by our HC practice and that it does continue to grow. I do quite a bit of recruiting and interviewing for the advisory practice and have been with the firm for almost 17 years. I'd be happy to review your resume and provide feedback.

Hi Kevin,

I am a practitioner in Deloitte's Federal Human Capital practice and have some experience in the leadership development offerings you mentioned (Kaisen, Bersen). I would be happy to discuss further off-line, if you would like to talk more (feel free to directly message me). Additionally, I can try to plug you in with other colleagues and thought leaders in Deloitte who work in this space.

Looking forward to hearing from you, thank you for your service.

Best,

Dan

I have helped over 100 people in the past 3 years obtain new positions by helping them create a Top 1% Resume. The "secret" is to show your value to the company, and specifically to the hiring manager. I am willing to help you for free, no strings.
I am a retired USAFR officer. I know how to take your operational military experience and translate those accomplishments into commercial value statements.
