I'm looking for ways to advance my career. FP&A stands for Financial Planning & Analysis while CMA stands for certified management accountant.
I wasn't sure which certification is worth pursuing. Based of indeed results in WA, there are approximately 90 job openings.

I am in the retirement industry and can tell you that due to recent regulation changes that go into effect in April of 2017, you should do your homework if you intend to obtain your CFP. Becoming a Certified Financial Planner (or Financial Advisor) tomorrow will mean something very different than it did in recent years as it pertains to having fiduciary risk/exposure. I am seeing a large gravitation towards RIA's (Registered Investment Advisors) which may be another area worth exploring.
If your ultimate goal is to become a CFO, in my experience that may require you to have some P&L experience from another opportunity before being offered a position at that level - although you may already have that from prior experience.
Thank you for your insight gentleman. I have learned that these certifications mentioned have very distinctive career routes. Whether I should stay on the path of a CFO as opposed to pursuing a business helping clientele that need financial planning.

Hi Thanh, if you plan to pursue a career in accounting and/or finance, CMA certification is a great way to set yourself apart from other candidates, and prepare you with the skill set to become an effective controller or CFO.
Thanh, I am going to make a guess based on the information you have supplied. The Financial Planning field which can easily be a stepping stone towards working with Large Insurance Carriers should easily provide the best results, assuming one of your key results areas is overall compensation. Commission based sales positions for people who are expert at personal financial planing can be extremely lucrative. It is not uncommon for people who pursue this area as a career choice to make over $1M annually. It take time but let me assure you it is possible with developing your skills and building a client base. Unless you pursuing becoming a partner in an accounting firm there really is no comparison.
