MARK ASHER Tarzana, CA

By way of introduction, Mark Asher just recently joined ACP, career US Army, degree from Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business & Management. I would appreciate and time you could spare and connect and gain from your experience, additionally my wife Jeri and I live in the Tarzana area.

There is no other way to say this, but I have conducted an exhaustive search for a career opportunity since I retired 3-1/2 ago. Quite simply, I need whatever help the community can provide to me to secure employment as soon as possible. I am open to all suggestions. I am generally available most days to chat and can be reached at 818-621-0258. If you are open to meeting, I would appreciate that as well. I know nothing but hard work to achieve my goals.

Thank You,
Mark Asher

Dear Mark,

Advisor- Kelly Williams' suggestion for a Federal job is a good idea. A quick search of www.usajobs.gov returned 226 job announcements within a 20-mile radius of Tarzana, CA.

If you visit the website, click on Advanced Search > under Location, enter and select Tarzana, CA > scroll to the bottom of the page > select "Yes, I fall into one of these categories ..." > click Search Jobs.

Of course, it is possible that none of the 226 jobs are of interest to you, but it might be work a look, just the same.

Good luck with the job search, and thank you for your service!

Sincerely,
Bob Jurasek

With your military background, you may want to consider federal employment.

1. You receive a preference during the hiring process (for most applications);

2. You can buy back your time towards retirement.

My company provides free resume critiques to all military service members. You can submit your resume to us via email or by using our secure online submission form: http://expertresumesolutions.com/freeresumereview/

or email your resume to: Info@ExpertResumeSolutions.com

Please allow 3-5 business days for completion. We use two different formats for corporate and federal applications. I can send you examples of each to get you started.

Thank you for your service.

Thank you for your service. When I came home I took on part-time work, just to get my foot in the door. Very rapidly it turned into full time, then I took another part-time job in something I really wanted to do which eventually led to my current, best job ever, job! I think part of what helped was my volunteer work in several organizations. It helped build connections and also built experience which I used later in part-time and full time jobs. I know it sounds crazy but the other thing I did was find part-time and volunteer work in things i thoroughly loved doing. It really helped because my energy level and engagement/commitment to the company/cause really shows in all I do. You already have an awesome start since you are a hard worker. People will notice. At one point I had my own business and 2 part time jobs! Now with LinkedIn you can get noticed too. (Aging myself, wasn't any FB, LinkedIn, social media back in my stone age years.) Best wishes.
