I am now a cleared professional, but haven't been in the Intelligence field in a long time. How can I apply for jobs using my clearance?

I just received my Top Secret Clearance and I'm ready to apply for jobs. I'm just not sure how I can showcase skills for jobs needed since I haven't been in the Intelligence field in so long. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, Keesha. Since you are in DC with a TS, you could sneeze and get a recruiter's attention. I lived in DC for 20 years, and I learned that skills are almost irrelevant with a TS. Put your clearance as the FIRST THING after your name and contact info. The resume is designed to get you a phone call (or conversation at a career fair booth). Once they start conversation with you, the resume is more of a formality. Just make sure it is neat, clean, and professional.

Speaking of career fairs, look for those by Brass Ring and the Washington Post.

I have a few questions for you:
- What agency is your clearance with?
- Why does your LinkedIn profile say you are in Texas while your profile here says DC?
- Your LinkedIn profile has some confusing dates of employment. Can you clarify?
- How did you just get a TS and are now ready to apply? You need to be sponsored for the investigation, so you should already have your upcoming job in hand. What's the situation?

Not certain, Keesha, if you have had any luck finding a position that requires a Security clearance since I just (11/19/16) signed up for this outreach program for vets.

However, from my own personal experience (not even having a degree) and landing a position at the NSA - I would say to follow the advice of some of the previous responses. There are many contractor positions within DoD. Other sources would be DHS, DIA, and CyberCom. The latter is a continuously growing entity. The organization actually began taking shape the year I retired 2012.

The best of luck to you.

Kindest regards,

Jo-Ann

Keesha,

If you go to https://www.clearancejobs.com/ it will give you enough resources to get you started.

Hi John,
Thank you for your response. I'll definitely take a look at the sites you gave me. For the past 3 years I've been working in the education field, but I'm ready to get back to my analyst work, which is what I did in the military. I'm just not sure where I'll fit in because so much has changed.

Try USAJobs.com , ClearedConnections.com , Booz Allen Hamilton at jobs.net , Monster.com which was just bought by Randstadt.

If you just received your clearance, what job are you currently doing ? Are you able to network within that scope ?

Hughes Aerospace , Rockwell Communications , Lockheed Martin , Boeing , and other DoD contractors like IBM need people with clearances and these companies host their own job sites.

Good luck , best wishes.
