Looking for outlets to reach service-disabled veterans for undergraduate and graduate degrees at George Mason University in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area

Veteran

J.J. Stakem Falls Church, VA

I am volunteering with George Mason University's School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs' (SPGIA) Alumni Association to help identify service-disabled veterans who would be interested in pursuing undergraduate and graduate degree's at the university. I am a graduate of the SPGIA and am deeply interested in helping other veterans connect with the school.

I am specifically supporting a scholarship program that is designed to provide $2500 per semester. In addition to this scholarship, the program provides paid internships and connections to businesses in the Washington DC area which support consulting and public sector work. The scholarship is funded by an Army service-disabled veteran and Washington, D.C. based business leader.

As a volunteer with the SPGIA Alumni Association I am working closely with university offices to include the Dean of SPGIA, GMU's Military Services offices, and administrative faculty.

Below is a link to the flyer which describes the program. The program requires Virginia residency and all courses are conducted in Arlington, Virginia. If anyone knows any potential candidates or has suggestions for avenues to identify potential candidates please contact me or the university through the attached brochure.

Jerry,

Thanks for the response. We are in the process of reaching out to those facilities. Recently we went and met with the Warrior Transition Battalion at Ft. Belvoir. We are currently reaching out to other facilities as well.

Reach out to the Airman and Readiness Centers, Fleet and Family Readiness Centers and Family Services at the military installations around DC. Of course there are tons of military installations and you need to hook up with the folks who are in the education department, or transition services. Hope this helps.
