I would be pleased to look at your resume. Some general principles to keep in mind. Most employers scan the document, so use type fonts that scan well and don't cram too much together. Second, many civilian employers don't know what military terms mean and what the meaning of military awards are, so remember your audience. Third, remember the purpose of the resume is to get you further considered, so preparing for and participating in the interview is important. Fourth, make sure your resume is clean--no typo's; good grammar, have others proofread it.

SSGT Torres ...what work area are you interested in?

Advisor

SSG Torres.. There are good resumes written by good candidates...bad resumes written by good candidates... good written by bad and bad written by bad. So-called experts tell you to keep your resume to one (or two) pages. Don't use a lot of military terminology but "civilianize" it so you don't get put in the "round file" by anti-military employers.

A tip.. Try to get in front of the hiring manager. Nobody was ever hired by a resume. Personnel people will ask for them but they are used primarily to disqualify not hire. Focus on companies you'd like to work for then find someone who works for those companies who can either recommend you or tell you who you might call (hiring managers only) for positions you might be interested in.
