Any thoughts or companies that are known to accept/hire Soldiers while on Active Duty??

Veteran

JOSEPH VENESS Tacoma, WA

I am currently attempting to transition from Active Duty Reserve to civlian sector for full time employment I am having difficutly locking in a position because I do not want to leave Active Duty until i have accepted a position, however, most companies will not offer a position until I have my DD214. I am looking for a position within the safety and health field. Any thoughts or companies that are known to accept/hire Soldiers while on Active Duty?? Thank you Joe.

Many major companies have Health & Safety programs, and many of us LOVE people with military backgrounds, especially in such roles. GE hires directly from the services, as do some other companies. Not sure about them at the moment, because of the oil price/downturn, but I do know that Shell has an extremely strong HS&E program - and I believe they hire veterans.

See btreport.net then type in "Comcast looking for a few good veterans." ....Just saw your background...ask Comcast about their program and what might be open in Occupational Health and Safety...every system has a regional safety guy or gal. Contact me for questions.

Are you AGR or on orders? When are you committing to leave the service? Companies will look at and ask about your availability date. If it works for them, then great, if not then they will not be interested. How are you explaining your availability date? You do not need to say why you have that date just that you are committed to the date and are available then. If you do not have a date, then you are not available or do not show any commitment to landing the job. The companies need to fill the slot by a date with someone who is ready then and has the skills at that time.
