Hello Jeffrey, my name is Deborah Johnson. I saw your question and wanted to ask you something.

You mentioned you had gotten a license. Is it for Property & Casualty? Did you take an All Lines Pre-License course? What state did you get your license in? Are you looking to become an Independent Insurance Adjuster (hired by an Adjusting Firm on behalf of the Multiple Insurance Carrier), Public Adjuster (hired by the Insured directly) or a Staff Adjuster (hired directly by the Insurance Carrier)?

Let me know. I have been in the insurance claims field for over a decade.

USAA is the military's insurance company, contact them. Third party adjusters may also be a source of opportunity for you. Property Causality claims may be a good starting point. If you are aggressive, Medical claims will have a long future with all the baby boomers aging.

I would recommend you look into Information Interviewing. 1) this technique has you has asking individuals in your career choice questions about their career. 2) you could get the internship or mentor ship into those questions. 3) as long as you keep it requesting information about the career versus flat out asking about a job it is Information Interviewing.
I would make a call into USAA, they are listed as on the most military friendly hiring companies and I hear very good things about their treatment of employees.
