Hello everyone,
Does anyone know of scholarship opportunities that help supplement living expenses while I pursue my degree?
In order to really get the education and experience I need I need to secure an internship and many of them pay little to no money. I really need financial assistance in order to stay on top of my studies and gain the practical experience of these internship opportunities.

Hi William,
Specifically, you want to look into the Post 9-11 G.I. Bill. They give you a monthly housing allowance if you are a full time student (pro-rated for part time students taking at least 7 credits per semester). The amount changes based on your location and increases annually with the cost of living. In addition, the Post 9-11 G.I. Bill also pays your full tuition up to the cost of state college tuition. Any school that participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program will then wave or cover any additional fees which means that you can get a private education for the cost of a state college and in your case, for free. The housing allowance arrives on the 1st of each month and will be pro-rated for any partial months, but in my opinion, is a generous amount of money each month and increases annually. Plus, they will give you $500.00 at the start of each semester to cover the cost of books and supplies.
With the Post 9-11 G.I. Bill, I was able to obtain my Bachelors Degree at a Private University without having to pay any tuition costs and without having to work which freed up my time to study, pursue internships and other opportunities, and figure out what I wanted to do with my degree.
I hope this helps,
Josh
Try FastWeb.com. It has a very large listing of grants & scholarships. Many will not apply as they are specific to certain groups, so you have to go through a sizable list, but the good news is there are lots of opportunities if you're willing to put in the time.
Hi William! If you have exhausted all your GI Bill you may still qualify for a Pell grant or Perkins loans that can assist with living expenses. Unfortunately they are dispersed in that one lump sum format, so you have to break it down for monthly expenses. Also, you may want to look into private loans to assist. Check with your educational institution's financial aid department also, there may be more out there than you know of. Good luck to you!
William,
I apologize for the cut-n-paste answer, but this is some scholarship information I post on my school's military member/veteran website. They are link-intensive but chock full of information about locating scholarships.

Here is a good one too, a scholarship from VFW and Sport Clips. The application is open now through April for Fall 2016. http://www.vfw.org/scholarship/
I hope that helps!

If you are getting a masters, you should have an academic advisor. Talk to them or your department advisors. I get emails daily on scholarships that I can apply for. Get creative
Al Ramos,
Looking for a career in sports business. Sponsorship sales, personnel, a few positions I wouldn't mind having.
Your educational institution should be able to help you with that if you can get a counselor to do some research for you. The sad fact is that many good scholarships/grants go unclaimed because people were not willing to do the research to find them. Good luck.
Thank you Joshuah.
I have a bachelors degree in Accounting.
I have exhausted all my GI benefits.
Currently pursuing my Masters and I am being supported by Voc Rehab.
In order to take advantage of some of the internships I need I need some financial support to help offset the income I would be losing from my limo job.
Thank you Deb Miller.
Looking at website now.
You're appreciated
