Can anyone help with my Resume

Veteran

Thomas Foote Peoria, AZ

I will be getting out of the navy soon and would like to start applying for jobs. I joined the navy right out of high school so I have never really had the need to write a resume. If anyone would be able to assist me that would be great. thanks.

Hi Thomas-

I am retired after a 40 year career in industry where I hired over 100 people. Now I am helping veterans like yourself by helping with their resumes. If you would e-mail me your resume (drjamesfwatson@gmail.com) I would be happy to comment on it. I also recommend the book "Tired of Eating Peanut and Butter Sandwiches? - Tips to Get a Job Fast" available on Amazon. It contains practical advice. Good luck in your search!!

One resume does not fit for all jobs. You have to write your resume to communicate to the employer what you think is important to the employer. If you think for the job you need to empathize your education and experience then tailor your resume to show that and do the same if you need to emphasize your commitment and hard work? You can do this by emphasizing on your resume your accomplishments and awards.

I can help as well with your resume and possibly with employment depending on your specialty with the Navy. You can email me at thomasg@mscdirect.com

Will happily assist with your resume. You might find my advice a little stronger than others. Via my website, 212-careers.com, I provide sometimes "tough" comments on resumes and interviews. For example, it's not your skills that matter, it's what you did with them -- your accomplishments -- and you do have them. You can send me your resume at info@212-careers.com or submit via the ACP website.

Part of this depends on what jobs you're applying to. Some of your skills will be more applicable to certain jobs than others so you'll want to highlight those. If you have an idea of the type(s) of jobs you'll be applying to, run a google search on examples. Such as "sales resumes" or "logistics jobs resumes" etc. Also get on LinkedIN and start connecting with recruiters. It's a great way to hunt for positions and many will be happy to help with crafting resumes towards what you're looking to get into. Hope this helps.

myresumebuilder.com is great with assisting with resumes. You should start with a professional summary including your career goals then work down to your education and make sure to list any skills or accolades you gained while serving but myresumebuilder.com is one of the best websites I have visited that walks you through everything.
