David, I would recommend you explore the hospitality industry. I am now with Marriott and I know hotels always have a team of facility management that is typically called "engineering department" that needs qualified people.
During my time with Hyatt Hotels we also hired a not of engineers. Both Marriott and Hyatt are veteran friendly companies.

There are quite a few veteran-friendly defense contractors in the Dallas-Ft Worth area that could utilize your skills in the facilities/facilities management arena. Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, and Bell-Textron are a few of the major contractors having a large presence in the DFW metropolitan area. If geography is a secondary consideration, their employment footprints are both nation and worldwide. There are also probably many lower tier defense subcontractors in the area that are veteran friendly.
