The Data Migration Specialist uses various tools and languages to extract, transform, and load client legacy data into disparate target application databases in accordance with contractual obligations. Candidates are competent to work on fairly complex assignments (and/or portions of larger, complex systems) and perform a full range of data conversion services. The Data Migration Specialist generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads, and operating with only general supervision by the Professional Services Manager. Candidates are required to define high-level conversion scope, develop data conversion strategies and estimate work effort, in addition to the programming and documentation required.

Primary Functions:

• Conducts on site analysis of Client legacy system(s) and database(s) with the goal of producing the initial Data Mapping for the Extract process.
• Working closely with client end users to find where data is stored in a database if client does not have intimate knowledge of database.
• Creates accurate code to Load the data into the target database.
• Executes onsite conversion test runs in order to obtain program run times, derive database sizing estimates, and uncover software / hardware / environment constraints.
• Creates data verification plans to be used following trial runs at the client site.
• Works with users to ensure successful system implementation; may assist in user training.
• Ability to install and configure SQL Server database software using common best practices.
• Ability to migrate databases and security settings and logins to new operating platforms (server migration).

Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts required.
• Experience in MS SQL server 2012 and later versions.
• Ability to build complex TSQL code.
• Customer site visits may be required.
• Ability to package and export data to external sources and various (ie fixed length files, XML, CSV)
• Minimum 2 years of technical experience.
• Data Conversion experience.
