The Financial Management Services Division (FMS) of ADOT is responsible for managing the $4.6 billion financial foundation on which Arizona’s highways and bridges are built and administered. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Duties include but are not limited to):
· Oversees approximately 18 employees within the areas of Accounts Receivable, Employee Services (payroll and travel reimbursement), Final Voucher and Project Accounting.
· The staff in these units interact with external customers as well as ADOT managers and staff at all levels of the agency so there is an intense focus on delivering excellent customer services and unwavering accuracy in everything we do.
· This position requires a deep commitment to staff development, very high attention to detail and a thorough understanding of grant management and project funding mechanisms.
· The successful candidate should also have a passion for improving processes, measuring performance and continuously finding ways to do things better.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or a related field.
· 5 years of audit or government accounting experience, including participation in the preparation of at least one CAFR.
· Experience with large, automated accounting and procurement systems.
· 3 years of supervisory experience, including coaching and mentoring staff.
· Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant by the State of Arizona Department of Transportation.
