We are seeking an Accounting specialist for a NY-based hedge fund company. The role entails the following: prepare positions, valuations and cash reconciliations between brokers, managers and administrator reports. Review and approve monthly Net Asset Value for platform hedge funds. Manage subscription and redemption activity and interact with hedge fund management team on various topics. The incumbent will gain experience dealing with many different types of investment structures and instrument types, including equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, OTC options and structured products. The role sits within a team environment where colleagues work collaboratively together to meet tight daily and monthly deadlines. The incumbent also will have very significant contact with specific clients and trading advisors on both daily tasks and major projects.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 1-4 years related work experience in financial accounting. Good knowledge of securities and accounting theories. S/He must possess strong analytical and verbal communication skills and be able to work independently and under significant pressure while adhering to constantly changing strict deadlines. S/He must be extremely detail and control-oriented with a very strong understanding of the risks of our business. S/He must have good interpersonal skills in order to effctively partner with employees that do not report to her/him and to deal effectively with other internal groups and external clients.
