Position Description

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is a community of Information Technology professionals committed to delivering service and technological solutions in support of teaching, learning, research and administration. The Associate Director of Infrastructure Services combines senior technology individual contributor responsibilities and the management of a team of technical staff responsible for infrastructure (on-prem, AWS, Azure and specialized networks) needs across the Campus Systems portfolio. The role requires strong people skills to both manage the team, and establish a strong relationship with partners in HUIT, business units, and 3rd parties. The Associate Director of Infrastructure Services is an embedded resource member of the Campus Systems team, and reports to the Principal Cloud Solutions Architect, in the Technology Partner Services (TPS) division of HUIT.

The specific responsibilities for the Associate Director of Infrastructure Services can be divided into the following key areas:

Services and Project Delivery

• Personally, or with the help of other senior staff on the team and across HUIT:
• Develop solutions for our biggest infrastructure needs, and lead their implementation.
• Ensure prompt resolution of the most complicated technical issues we encounter.
• Works with the leadership of Campus Systems and key clients across the portfolio to:
• Ensure infrastructure for Campus Services is adequate to support SLAs in our services.
• Identify gaps and needs, current and future as it relates to infrastructure services, and devise plan to address them.

Management, Leadership & Innovation

• Ensures performance is actively managed across the team on both ends of the performance spectrum: support growth and development of good performers, ensure performance issues are communicated, actively addressed and corrected in a timely matter.
• Foster a positive and engaging work environment that enables a culture of continuous innovation with a focus on solving business problems through IT solutions.
• Be a visible and active technology leader on the Campus Systems team, and in HUIT's TPS organization.
• This role is part of the management on-call rotation.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience
• Supervisory experience

Certificates and Licenses

• Completion of Harvard IT Academy Project Management Foundations course (or external equivalent) preferred
• PMP or other relevant certification and experience preferred, e.g., Scrum Master

Working Conditions
HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business needs allow. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (MA, ME, NH, RI, and VT).

This position will be primarily onsite (1-2 days per week).
