This newly created role would be similar to a Deputy or Chief of Staff position, focusing on 3 key areas to allow the site leader to focus more on strategic planning with several Directors reporting to you. No prior corporate experience is required.

JOB TITLE: Director of Administration – Sargent Tucson
LOCATION: Tucson, AZ

REPORTS TO: Vice President/General Manager

Summary:
Directs and coordinates activities of Supply Chain Management, Human Resources and Contracts/Compliance.

Supply Chain Management – All processes involved in the production and distribution of the product. This system includes procurement, operations management, and logistics to ensure raw materials can be converted into a finished product and delivered to the end customer. Directly supervises one (1) Director of Strategic Sourcing and one (1) Supply Chain Manager and indirectly supervises seventeen (17) supply chain support staff.

Human Resources – The development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and services including recruitment, retention, performance management, legal compliance, employee benefits, employee relations, employment practices and procedures, employee communications, and employee events. Directly supervises one (1) Director of Human Resources and indirectly supervises five (5) HR support staff.

Contract/Compliance – Government defense contracts, proposals, and regulations around defense programs. Directly supervises one (1) Government Compliance Manager and indirectly supervises nine (9) contract/compliance support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participate in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all business and profitability growth objectives for a large manufacturer of defense products.
• Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, controls, and forecast data to determine business unit progress toward stated goals and objectives.
• Confer with VP, CEO, COO, and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
• Develop, review, update, and support business strategic planning including sales, financial performance, headcount requirements, and new product development.
• Oversee supply chain departments to review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, vendor supply issues, and facility problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays to meet future growth goals and customer expectations.
• Work closely with the Human Resources department to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
• Work closely with the Talent Development Manager on talent development, training and development programs, and facilitation of change management initiatives that align with company values and goals.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Understanding of government contracting, DFAR/FAR, ITAR, and pricing a plus.
• Background in supply chain management and strategic vendor management helpful.
• Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent; and ten to twenty years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior engineering, and/or production/supply chain management experience in engineering or operations management is a plus. Experience in dealing with government defense contracts, proposals, and regulations around defense programs. Strong background in supply chain and vendor management a plus.
