We have a new job opportunity for a Strategic Communications Writer/Analyst, located in Arlington, VA.
Performance Outcomes:
• Supports the Director for Prototypes and Experiments by working with DoD prototyping and experiment engineers and planners and other subject matter experts to develop and ensure the delivery of timely, executive-quality communications deliverables (e.g., DoD correspondence, newsletter articles, briefings, reports, responses to congressional inquiries) targeted to specific audiences to include, Sr DoD leaders, Congress, academia, industry, and the public.
• Assist in the management and implementation of communication strategies and projects.
• Track team progress to plan and ensure compliance with all applicable policies.
• Establish and document business processes or procedures.
Requirements:
• Department of Defense and National Capital Region experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher required; degree in a field related to communications or an engineering field is desired
• Minimum ten (10) years of general work experience; minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in communications
• Demonstrated proficiency in developing and advising on communications strategies, as well as experience in the drafting, editing, publishing, distribution, coordination of various communication deliverables, to include information papers, guidance memoranda, policies, reports, responses to media inquiries, briefings, and presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with and elicit information from engineers and other technical subject matter experts, locate primary sources, synthesize disparate data points into a focused message, and communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team and with a wide range of contributors, to include engineers, subject matter experts, functional teams, and senior leadership.
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
• Impeccable professional writing and editing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• US citizenship and ability to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance.
• *PREFERRED: Current TS security clearance
DESIRED SKILLS:
• • Technical/scientific journalism or general journalism experience
• • Familiarity with the Correspondence Action Management System
• • Experience with the Congressional staff
• • Experience working with the media or writing press releases
• • Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) or technical area experience
• COVID VACCINE REQUIRED
