Job Specific Profile:

Delivering exceptional Human Resource coordination and program management for the 140+ HUECU employees. Delivering HR program and advice to support managers and all HUECU staff in employee relations, recruitment, talent development, diversity initiatives, and efforts related to improving the work environment. Reports to the Director of Human Resources. Works collaboratively with the HR Team, Harvard HR Departments, managers, and HUECU leadership.

HR Programs and Policies:
• Provides Human Resource support for 140+ HUECU staff.
• Acts as the primary source of information on all Human Resource related policies and practices.
• Independently manages routine performance, conduct and employee relations cases, collaborating with the Director of Human Resources on more complex cases.
• Responsible for interpreting and communicating the HUCTW Bargaining Unit Agreement, Harvard Personnel Manual, and HUECU internal personnel policies.
• Delivers HR programs and projects, ensuring they support HR and business strategic plans.
• Provides project management and support across teams including developing and refining communications, standard templates, and best practices.
• Partners with managers on job classifications and organizational design. Independently reviews job descriptions and collaborates with the Director of Human Resources on organizational design and departmental restructures, and merit/salary equity issues.
• Provides coaching to management and staff to encourage effective communication, objective problem resolution, and development of conversations.
• Ensures compliance with University HR policies, procedures, requirements, and applicable legal regulations.
• Manages HR administrative systems including acting as the Administrator for the PeopleSoft Performance Management Module, and Payroll Administration (back-up), personnel files - including digitizing the current files, and as a BVS Training System Administrator (back-up).
• Facilitates performance management process by supporting managers and staff, administering the performance management system, and working with managers on progressive discipline.
• In collaboration with the HR and Payroll Coordinator, supports the administration and implementation of the annual merit salary increase and bonus processes.

Recruitment and Onboarding:
• Coordinates the end-to-end recruitment and appointment process with managers, the recruitment team and the HR and Payroll Coordinator. Maintaining a focus on diversity.
• Reviews job equity and sets budgeted salaries for advertised positions, works with recruitment to negotiate salaries.
• Leading the on-boarding process for new hires - coordinates with the HR and Payroll Coordinator, Training Specialist, and managers.

Training and Payroll Coordination:
• Acts as a backup for the Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator and the Training Specialist.

Working Conditions

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department's current presence on campus.

Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is an on-campus community and all positions are based in Boston and Cambridge.

The majority of jobs at HUECU are hybrid remote/office. During the initial 90-day training period, new employees may be expected to work in the office more frequently, up to full time. When appropriate, remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered (CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT). • M - F 35.00hrs per week/7.00hrs per day default but additional hours will be expected as business needs warrant, either early/late weekdays or on weekends.
• Will be expected to attend after hours meetings and events.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant HR experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS applications, and analytics, specifically PeopleSoft highly desired.
• Working knowledge of employment law, HR policies and practices, and financial/business acumen.
• Demonstrated experience with the administration of bargaining unit policies and procedures.
• Proficiency with additional business applications such as QlikView or another reporting system, Qualtrics, and PeopleSoft.
• Ability to work flexibly within an ambiguous environment while maintaining quality of work and attention to detail.
• Strength in the following competencies is essential: responsiveness, time management, initiative, customer/client service skills, accountability, and collaborative partnership.
• Experience dealing with confidential information in an environment where you must apply discretion, and judgment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
