The Department of Labor and Industry has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Communications Director 1 to support strategic communications and media relations goals of the department.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

This position assists with development of strategic messaging to promote the department’s programs and priorities; plans media events; assists with organizing public outreach events; promotes L&I programs and services to the public and stakeholders; drafts press releases, media advisories, speeches, and briefings; and monitors national and state labor and industry trends and current events.

Schedule
Work Hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm
Lunch Period: 1 hour
Work Days: Monday thru Friday

*Hours may be negotiable based on operational needs.

This position will be eligible for part-time telework up to 3 days a week with the expectation to come in on telework days as needed for assignments and meetings. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

Three years of experience in preparing public relations promotion through all media; and a bachelor's degree with major course work in journalism, public relations communications, English, or a related field; OR An equivalent combination of experience and training.
